Preset Torque Screwdrivers
A preset torque screwdriver is a precision torque tool that is calibrated to provide the same amount of torque everytime, which minimises operator error when tightening screws and other small fasteners.
Preset torque screwdrivers are usually calibrated by the manufacturer and the torque level cannot be adjusted by the operator, which avoids tampering and promotes repeatability and consistency of torque application. When the preset level of torque has been applied to the fastener, the torque screwdriver will either click or slip, which prevents more torque being applied to the fastener.
Preset torque screwdrivers are used where repeatability and compliance are essential, like for electronics assembly and medical device manufacturing, as well as in the aerospace, rail and automotive sectors.
