Torque Limiters
A torque limiter is also known as a 'torque-limiting extension', and is a mechanical device that is designed to protect fasteners from any excessive torque overload that can occur when using a torque tool, by slipping (disengaging) when the preset torque value has been reached.
Torque limiters are used for enhancing precison on low torque applications, which prevents stripped threads, broken fasteners and damage to sensitive components, and happens when too much torque has been applied to a fastener.
They can also enhance the life of a torque tool by preventing it from over-tightening, and are used in the automotive and aerospace sectors, as well as on production lines to ensure that consistent and repeatable torque is delivered.
