Open End Torque Wrench Fittings

An open ended torque wrench fitting is a tool that is interchangeable and is connected to the end of a torque wrench, so that torque can be applied to fasteners, such as nuts and bolts.

Open end torque wrench fittings have a U-shape end that is designed to grip the sides of a fastener to apply torque to it. This design makes it easier to grip and apply torque to fasteners in tight or confined spaces because the torque wrench end can be easily slid off the fastener, and slid back on to a different side of it. This design does make open-end torque wrench fittings more prone to slipping off the fastener, which means they should only really be used to apply low levels of torque.

Open end fittings are used by automotive mechanics on brake lines and hydraulic systems, by maintenance technicians on industrial machinery, and by assembly line workers when applying a set torque level to fasteners.
