Random Orbit Sanders
A random orbit sander is a powered hand tool that has an abrasive material attached to it, such as sandpaper, that it rotates in a random pattern to smooth and prepare mulitple types of materials like wood, metal and composites.
Random orbit sanders are characterised by the sanding movement they produce, which is an irregular overlapping elliptical pattern and is designed to prevent regular overlaps in order to produce a more even finish, in comparison to orbital sanders, which do not have a random orbit and move in a predicatable pattern.
Random orbit sanders are used by automotive body shops, aerospace engineers and furniture makers, as well as by DIYers for sanding jobs around the home.
