Hole Saws
A hole saw is also known as a 'hole cutter' and is a cylindrical cutter that is fitted to a drill to accurately cut holes in materials such as steel, wood, fibreglass, plastic, plasterboard and tiles, depending on the hole saw type and cutting edge design.
Hole saws are attached to a drill using an arbor, which can include a pilot drill to guide and stabilise the hole saw as it starts cutting around the outside edge of the hole. Hole saws leave a circular plug of material inside the saw, often called the slug or core, rather than removing all the material as they cut.
They are widely used by electricians, plumbers, HVAC engineers and joiners, as they allow larger diameter holes to be cut quickly and efficiently.
