HSS Drill Bits

An HSS drill bit is made from high-speed steel (HSS), a hardened alloy designed to retain its hardness and cutting performance at the higher temperatures generated by faster drilling speeds.

HSS drill bits are commonly used by engineers, joiners, metal fabricators, construction workers and DIYers to create clean, accurate holes in materials such as sheet metal, metal sections, timber and plastic components, depending on the bit design.

They are especially useful for general-purpose metal drilling in materials such as mild steel, aluminium, brass and copper.
