Torx Sockets
A Torx socket is a hand tool that is recognisable by the star-shaped six points on its head, which is designed to tighten/untighten Torx shaped fasteners, such as screws and bolts.
There are two types of Torx sockets, internal and external. Internal sockets grip the centre of the head of the fastener and have a 'T' before the number (e.g. T10), whereas external sockets encapsulate the outer edges of the fastener and have an 'E' before the number (e.g. E10).
The design of a Torx socket allows for higher levels of torque to be applied to the fastener, whilst also enhancing grip and should be used with a torque wrench or ratchet. They are used on fasteners on cars, for bicycle maintenance, computer and electronics repair, as well as by joiners and trades people in the construction sector.
