Hex Sockets

A hex socket is a hand tool that has six sides that grip a fastener, such as a nut or bolt, to tighten or un-tighten it. Hex sockets have a square drive at one end that enables them to attach to a ratchet or torque wrench, to provide leverage for the socket to fasten/unfasten the nut or bolt.
Hex sockets are used widely, for example, DIY around the home, mechanics for fastening bolts on vehicles, maintenance professionals for tightening machinery and defence engineers for work on armed forces equipment.
