A twist-on wire nut is a wire connector that is designed to connect two or more low voltage wires, by twisting them together under its cone-shaped plastic cap, which holds a spring to draw the wires together as they turn.
Twist-on wire connectors don't require the use of any tools and provide a secure connection for two stripped wires ends, which makes them popular with electricians and DIYers.
Some twist-on wire nuts have 'wings' on them and are known as 'wing-nuts', which are easier to twist, because the wings provides more leverage for the operator.
