Wire-Nuts
A twist-on wire nut is also known as a 'twist-on wire connector' and is an electrical connector used to join two or more compatible stripped wire ends. It has an insulated, cone-shaped plastic cap with an internal spring that grips the conductors as the connector is twisted into place.
Twist-on wire connectors can be fitted without soldering or crimping, helping to create a compact, enclosed connection, and are commonly used by electricians, lighting installers and maintenance engineers when a quick and simple wire joining method is required inside junction boxes and lighting circuits.
Some twist-on wire nuts have 'wings' on them and are known as 'wing-nuts', which are easier to twist, because the wings provide more leverage for the operator.
