Insulated Terminals

An insulated terminal is a wire connector that is also known as an 'insulated receptacle'. Insulated terminals have a PVC or plastic sleeve around the metal barrel, to improve mechanical strength, whilst also ensuring the electrical current doesn't impact any surrounding components and to also prevent electric shock for the operator.

The colour coded insulation on these terminals makes it easier and safer for the operator to identify gauage compataibilty, whilst also ensuring bare wire does not touch other components, which could cause a short circuit or a fire hazard.

Insulated terminals are used by electrical engineers in high risk areas, where there is potential for terminals to be touching each other, such as in the marine, automotive and aerospace and defence sectors.
