A core drill bit is a hollow, cylindrical cutting accessory used with a core drilling machine to create large, clean holes in tough materials such as concrete, masonry, stone and brick.
Unlike a standard drill bit, a core drill bit cuts around the edge of the hole, leaving a solid centre section inside the bit. This centre section is known as the core, or sometimes the slug.
Core drill bits are commonly used by plumbers, electricians and HVAC installers to create openings for cables, vents, ducts and pipework through walls, floors and other surfaces.
