Nickel Cable Lugs

A nickel cable lug is a heat-resistant electrical connector used to terminate cables onto fixed connection points in corrosive or high-temperature environments up to 650°C, such as ovens, furnaces and chemical processing systems.

It is recommended that nickel cable lugs are usually crimped using an indent crimp rather than a hex crimp, due to the hardness of nickel. This is because hex crimps do not always provide enough concentrated force to compact the cable strands to form a secure mechanical and electrical connection, while an indent crimp applies a concentrated force on one area of the crimp to deform the nickel lug barrel around the conductor.

Nickel cable lugs are used by electrical engineers in demanding environments across the aerospace, defence, marine and offshore sectors, as well as in power grids and chemical processing plants.
