Insulated screwdrivers can also be known as 'VDE screwdrivers' and are hand tools that are insulated from electrical currents up to 1000 volts. Insulated screwdrivers have a rubber or plastic coating on their shaft and handle, making them a hand tool which is safe to use when screwing screws on live electrical equipment, such as circuit boards.
Insulated screwdrivers are normally rated to IEC 60900 and are widely used by electricians, electronics technicans and anyone else that is screwing screws on potentially live equipment.
Always ensure the insulation is intact before use, otherwise the operator may be compromised and not protected from the electrical current that is being worked on.
