Wire Strippers

Wire strippers are used to remove the insulation from electrical wires, exposing the conductive metal core for connections or repairs.

A MIL-SPEC wire stripper (short for Military Specification wire stripper) is a highly precise wire stripper that meets strict U.S. military standards. MIL-SPEC wire strippers are regularly used by engineers for stripping wire in sectors such as aerospace, car manufacturing, Formula 1 and defence contractors.

The correct wire stripper should be used with the correct wire gauge to prevent the conductor getting nicked, which ensures the full cross-sectional area of the wire will be used to minimise electrical resistance and prevent overheating.

Automatic wire strippers are designed to adjust to the gauge of wire being stripped automatically, whereas manual wire strippers require the operator to choose the correct stripping blade for the wire gauge being stripped. Generally it should be considered that manual wire strippers are more accurate, whereas automatic wire strippers enable the operator to strip varied wire sizes quicker.
