Sanding Discs
A sanding disc is a circular abrasive accessory used with a sanding tool to remove material, smooth surfaces and prepare materials such as wood, plastic, metal, paint, filler and composites.
Sanding discs come in various sizes to suit the needs of the job, as well as in various grit grades and abrasive materials, including aluminium oxide, silicon carbide and ceramic. Different abrasive materials are suited to different tasks and surface types, while many sanding discs attach to sanding tools using hook-and-loop backing or pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA).
Coarser grits are used to remove paint, corrosion, rough edges and heavier surface material, while finer grits are used for smoothing, blending and preparing a surface before coating, polishing or final finishing.
Sanding discs are used by metal fabricators, body shop technicians, painters and decorators, DIYers, furniture refinishers and woodworkers.
